Man.
Designed of His omnipotent mind.
Created in His eternal image.

Yet, being human quickly our eyes
Turned toward destruction
And all He despised.

With malice in our hearts
And deceit on our lips,
We forsook our God and cursed His name.

Into the darkness we were pulled
A thousand needles, were so cruel.

In Satan's hand we were kept,
As our Creator silently,
Watched and wept.

Yet in His absolute mercy
And unending grace
Would he send His Son,
To die in our place.

Innocent, blameless
And without guile.
He would shed His blood,
Our souls to reconcile.

Who are we
But sons of men,
To call upon the King.

What have we done
To deserve such a faith,
A life where nothing dies.

As a daughter of the King,
A princess by all rights,
She has reckoned Him to be
The Way, the Truth, the Light.

As a son of the King,
A prince in every way,
He has seen what you mean,
And by Him he is saved.

His unending love
Made evident to us.
It is our God
In whom we trust.

And with eternity's promise in reach
We the living, have fellowship
With our Father and King.
And by His name are called

Sons of God.

This is my collaboration with the wonderful ~jesusroxgirl

I’m really proud of the result. :D We worked hard on it for the past month. And if anything the challenge was blending our two unique styles of writing. Mine open and, hers usually on a rhyme scheme. :)

But I think the result is a smooth and elegant example of those tow styles being fused. And of course with both of us being Christians, it was a natural fit for our subject matter to be biblical and Christian oriented. Many of you know how big I am on spiritual poetry, and so is she :D And so this is no exception.

She’s so amazing with words. We first started out with the basic concept of “sons of God” and we proceeded to tell in poetic dialogue the story of the redemption of mankind. I was stuck with only a few phrases, but once I handed it to her, the words just came so naturally. After a few tweaks and minor alterations we came to what you see above.
A special thank you to her, for all her fantastic work, and putting up with me. :aww:

She’s got to be one of the most eager and delightful person’s I’ve met here on dA. I’m so privileged to have gotten to work with her. Please don’t hesitate to read her other work [link]

* If you fave this piece, please fave hers also. :aww: [link]

Thank you for reading.
Hope you enjoy it. It was tons of fun writing. :D
Feel free to leave any comments or critique you have, we’d love to hear what you think. :D

God bless. :)

“This poem is about the redemption of mankind through Jesus sacrificing his life for our sins. In the beginning God created us in his image, but we rebelled. He sent Jesus, his only son to die so we could be saved, and have a chance at eternal life. The poem in metaphorical and figurative language shows this tale. Verses used as inspiration and reference include : John 3:16, Psalm 8:4, 1 John 3:1, 2 Corinthians 6:18 and Psalm 139:14. Also used as reference : The books of Genesis, The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.”

Fantastic. I'm, loathe though I am to admit it, shocked to see artists who are of Faith here on dA.

This is a very traditional way of portraying the rebellion but, at the heart of the matter, still rings true.

This made my day, particularly for showing me two very articulate people who haven't chosen the oh-so-trendy route of Atheism. (AKA Insanity)

As for the style, itself, you've managed to set a smooth pace without ruining it with a sing-song tone.

The meaning of life is to live well, die, and, in death, know a true, immortal life as an entity not unto oneself, but defined as all that which surrounds oneself.
